PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVE
Retail Management
Academy’s most important objective is to be the trusted source of quality
professional development activities and credentials for individuals seeking to
pursue a career in the retail industry. In addition, RMA seeks to provide participants
access to retail employment and opportunities to start and grow their own retail
businesses.

OVERVIEW
RMA
RETAIL MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND CERTIFICATIONS
RMA Retail Management
program is the first retail-sector-tailored certification program in Nigeria
aimed at providing high quality retail management education to retailers,
retail staff and individuals seeking opportunities in retail. It is an
extensive and intensive certification program and covers all aspects of
strategic retail management and practice. Participants are equipped with sound
retail knowledge and skills and provided opportunity for both retail employment
and retail business development.
SCOPE
OF CERTIFICATION
The certification is
targeted at individuals with interest and passion to seek and pursue
opportunities in the retail industry. Achieving RMA certification indicates
that the certified individual has demonstrated a broad knowledge and has
acquired strong retail skill-set. The certification covers both theories and
practical application of knowledge and skills gained in real world situation. Participants
will carry out retail projects at various intervals in the course of the
program.
TYPES
OF CERTIFICATIONS
RMA program has two
types of certification. These include:
1. Graduate Certificate in
Retail Management and Leadership (for HEI graduates) and
2. Diploma in Retail Management
(for Senior Secondary School-leavers).
DURATION
OF CERTIFICATIONS
1. Graduate
Certificate in Retail Management and Leadership
(GCRML): This is a 12 month program
of 2 semesters. Only higher education institution graduates are qualified to
apply for this certification.
2. Diploma
in Retail Management (DRM): This is a 24 month program of 4
semesters. Candidates applying for this certification must have obtained a
senior secondary school certificate such as WAEC or NECO with a minimum of passes
in English Language and Mathematics.
RMA
CERTIFICATION COMPETENCIES
This extensive and
intensive certification program encompasses all aspects of strategic retail
management as they relate to the retail industry and gives participants a
competitive edge both as potential retail employees and retailers. Participants
are expected to develop competencies in:

CANDIDATE
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should have
the desire to pursue a CAREER in Retail Management and Leadership AND the
following:

A CGPA of 2.0 or higher (for HEI
graduate applicants).
·
A senior secondary school leaver
(WAEC/NECO certified).
·
All majors are welcome (for HEI graduate
applicants).
·
An entrepreneurial spirit with a passion
for results.
·
Demonstrate leadership skills.
· Business driving strength, including strong
analytical skills, organization and planning and solution-oriented decision
making abilities.
·
A team player.
·
A mature learner of 18 years and above.
REGISTRATION
The application forms
can be obtained, filled and submitted at the Redeemed Christian Church of God,
Green Pastures Parish, Egbeda, Alimosho LGA, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Applications are
reviewed to verify information and documentation to determine eligibility and
will be kept confidential. Candidates will not be discriminated against based
on ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, or state of origin.
If application
submitted is incomplete, the candidate will be contacted and informed about
what is missing in order to enable him/her complete the form correctly. An
application may be deemed incomplete for reasons such as: 1) application is not
completely filled out; 2) application is not signed; and 3) copies of relevant educational
qualifications are not attached to returned application.
All applications must
be completed and submitted before or on the closing date given for submission.
Late submission will not be considered for admission. Upon receipt of
completely filled applications, successful candidates will be contacted and
invoiced the Fee of the program selected.
Application Forms will
be available for sale from July 10 to
July 21, 2017.
SEATS
RESERVED
There are very few
seats reserved for both certifications.
60 seats are reserved
for the Graduate Certificate in Retail Management and Leadership (GCRML) certification.
50 seats are reserved
for the Diploma in Retail Management (DRM)
certification.
RMA admission is strictly
on merit. However, first-comers have greater chance to be admitted.
FEES
FOR 2017/2018 SESSION

Note:
Program fees are paid per semester. For GCRML,
which is a 12 month program of 2 Semesters, candidates are expected to pay the
sum of N40, 000 per Semester.
DRM candidates are expected to pay N37,500 per Semester.
Program fees can be
paid in full or part. For part payment, a minimum of 70% of payment is allowed
at the beginning of each semester. The remaining 30% must be paid before the
end of the Semester.
All female candidates
are given a discount of 20% on the program fees.
CLASS
SCHEDULE
All classes will start
on the announced date of July 27, 2017.
All DRM classes will hold on Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.
All GCRML classes will hold on Wednesday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.
No class will be held
during national public holidays. Classes may also not be held when special events
are organized by RMA. All special events organized by RMA are part of the
certifications. All candidates are expected to participate in all our special
events.
ACCOMMODATION
Candidates are expected
to make adequate arrangement for their own accommodation. RMA is not offering
any form of accommodation to candidates at this time. We hope to make
accommodation available to candidates in the nearest future, especially for
those with disabilities.
RMA
GRADUATION CRITERIA
Candidates are required
to attain 100% attendance and actively participate in all class activities and
events as a condition for graduation and certification. No formal examination
will be administered to candidates throughout the program. However, candidates
are expected to carry out assignments and other relevant class activities meant
to assess the development and progress of candidates throughout the program.
RMA
INTERNSHIP
RMA certifications also
include an internship program of a minimum of 2 months.
GCRML candidates are
expected to participate in a 2 month internship program as part of the
certification. RMA and its retail partners will make adequate arrangement to obtain
internship placements for candidates in established and thriving retail
organizations in Nigeria.
The internship program
for DRM candidates will take place twice during the course of the program. A 2
month internship will be held at the end of each Session of 2 Semesters.
Candidates will be placed in established and thriving retail organizations for
the internship.
At the end of the
internship, all candidates would be required to write and present a detailed
report of their personal experiences during their internship with the help of
the RMA internship coordinator and the retail organizations’ representatives.
Also, at the end of the
program, all candidates are required to write about and make a presentation of a
retail project of their choice.
RMA
PROGRAM POLICIES
The following policies
will be enforced during the program:
1. Candidates are expected to be seated
before the commencement of each class. Late coming is prohibited.
2. Candidates are expected to maintain
absolute quiet during each class session. Questions and contributions will be
entertained from students with permission from the instructors, lecturers, facilitators
or guest lecturers. All classes will be highly interactive. We encourage active
engagement during learning.
3. Candidates are encouraged to participate
actively in all class activities, take and return assignments as at when due.
4. Candidates, in the case of absence,
should seek permission from the program coordinator and the class
representatives.
5. Candidates are encouraged to acquire all
relevant and suggested reading textbooks and materials required for class
instructions.
6. Candidates engaged in fighting or any
unwholesome practice will be advised to withdraw from the program.
SECURITY
MATTER
For the safety of RMA candidates, lecturers and
guests, the following must be observed:
1.
Candidates must obtain and use a
personal identification card officially issued to him/her by RMA during all
classes and events and other engagements relating to the certifications. No
candidate would be allowed to enter into any class or participate in any event
in relation to RMA certifications without a valid ID card.
2.
Candidates are prohibited from carrying
any harmful objects during classes and events.
3.
Candidates are prohibited from taking
subtly or forcefully anything that does not belong to them from RMA and other
candidates. Whatsoever a candidate in RMA has and uses must be owned or
obtained with the owners’ permission. Theft is highly prohibited in RMA.
4.
Candidates are prohibited from engaging
in any act of fraud throughout the program.
WITHDRAWING
AN APPLICATION
In the case of a
willful and intentional withdrawal from the program, a formal letter must be written
and sent to RMA directly in person, or by email to jomamel.ng@gmail.com. Candidates
seeking to withdraw from the program at any given time will forfeit 40% of
his/her program fees, and a refund of the balance will be made within 5 working
days.
CHANGE
OF CONTACT INFORMATION
Candidates are
encouraged to provide their most current contact information including phone
contacts and email addresses. In case of any change, candidates are encouraged
to write to RMA for an update of personal contact information.
CERTIFICATION
Each successful
candidate will receive a Certificate for the credential applied for at the end of the program. RMA will
ensure that the certificates issued at the end of the certifications are
endorsed/approved by relevant bodies for the purpose of authentication and recognition.
